Am I overweight for a short 13 year old?
Hi, I’m a Chinese/Vietnamese 13 year old girl standing at 4″11 and weighing 116 pounds. Everyone says I’m overweight. My mom, aunts, uncles, dad, cousins, friends and pretty much everyone. I can’t even fit size small and most medium shirts. I am really negative and insecure about my looks and weight. all my fat goes to my stomach, thighs & arms. I never even wear tight clothing or short sleeves for that reason. Even my mom who is a bit taller then me weighs only 94 pounds. Everyone compliments my mom and my mom always compares me to all my friends who are really skinny. I tried to starve myself, but someone would notice and tell me to eat. I tried to stay on a healthy diet, but my family doesn’t have enough money to buy enough food, so I either eat a lot in one meal, or eat very very little. At school, I never eat lunch because I don’t have the time to make it, nor time to make myself breakfast. for the whole school year, I had no breakfast or lunch, which I know is bad. I try to keep healthy by running a nearby track every once in awhile, swimming 3 times a week and jumping rope for 10-30 minutes a day. I can’t seem to lose weight.. and only 2 and a half years ago, I was 75 pounds, and I know puberty changes your body a lot.. but I didn’t think I would gain so much weight in a few years. I don’t grow much either. my whole family line is under 5″5′, but they are all really skinny. What can I do to lose weight? What is a good healthy diet I can follow that isn’t expensive? Any ideas on some kind schedule I can follow? Help would be appreciated.

Don’t let people put you down.
Just because they think your over weight doesnt mean you are, just because your bigger then your friends or family doesn’t mean you need to loose weight. Remember it’s your body not theirs. & clothes sizes change in each store you could be a large in one store but in the next a small. So don’t base your size on that.
Also, dont try and starve yourself, I’ve been through that. TOTALLYnot worth it, anything that you do eat you will gain more weight from in than you would before. Because your body stores it thinking it will not eat for a while. + it does become scary, like you wouldn’t be able to stop. So just don’t do that. I would just stick too eating almost no junk food. And eat more fruits, veggies and less breads.
As for keeping fit, I would try and find something you like doing. (ex. Walking, biking) nothing worst then trying to lose weight and hating what your doing. Walking places more should help. & playing sports like basketball, soccer, dance. Should also help. Try walking for at least 15 mins a day, & see if that helps. Swimming sometimes will help; depending on how hard the stuff your doing is.
If you can, talk to a doctor & ask for help there that would be your best bet.
Honestly I don’t think you need to loose weight I am 13 as well and I think you are at a fine weight.
Oh, and try & make your lunch the day before school. That helps, I know because that’s what I do. ;p

Why do people think that I will encounter problems entering this country?
So my parents have asked my aunt who is living in vietnam to find me a vietnamese girl for me to marry and they are setting me up with this 16 year old vietnamese girl and people are telling me that I can go to jail for being in a relationship with her. I have to have my parents set me up with this girl because absolutely no girl in america would want to be my girlfriend. I mean girls always turn me down because I’m not that good looking and no girl in america would even give me a chance to be with them. People are breaking my heart by telling me that I need to be in jail for being involved with this 16 year old girl. They said they have enough evidence to turn me into both authorities in america and in vietnam and get me classified as a child pedophile. I believe what I’m doing is perfectly legal as I am waiting for this girl to turn 18 years old to marry her. People say that I will have a hard time entering vietnam if the vietnamese authorities know that I’m just traveling there to meet this girl. I mean I can just tell them that I am visiting my aunt and nobody will ever know and there won’t be any problems entering that country. Why do people think I can go to jail for this ? Why do they say I will have a hard time entering vietnam ??

You can get engaged to her and marry when she is 18 years old. That is perfectly fine and legal. Seems like you are surrounded by people who do not want you to marry this girl or immigrate to US. Don’t let them scare you. Decide what is good for you.
Moving to United States and marrying a girl here sure sounds fun and easy, but it is not. You also have to factor that this girl was born (i am not sure) and raised in United States, therefore, she may not like someone from her own country who is fresh off the boat. Her parents may think that their daughter will marry you, but she may not want and go for it at all.

Can you be arrested by the local police in america if your engaged to a foreign minor?
So people tell me that I can be arrested for being engaged to a 16 year old vietnamese girl from vietnam who my aunt set me up with. My aunt set me up with this girl because I am having such a hard time finding a girl in america to date me. No girl in america would even look twice at me before rejecting me and every girl who I asked out just looks at me weird and walks away. Can I actually get in legal trouble for being engaged to a minor ??? I mean I believe I am doing the right thing by waiting for her to turn 18 to marry her.
