All the Asian families I’ve ever known eat real food compared to the junk most of us eat. Fast food and TV dinners are mostly empty calories, sodium and preservatives.
I used to have Vietnamese neighbors growing up. I was friends with their kids. Their mom didn’t let them eat all the junky stuff like we ate at my house. Their mom would yell at them to stop playing video games and eat their rice. She would even shovel it into their mouths for them sometimes because they were too busy playing their game.
That lady made the best egg rolls. Whenever she made them she would make a lot of them at a time and she’d bring us a plate of them. At least I’m pretty sure they were egg rolls, they may have been called something else. They were rolled up in this edible rice paper maybe? And when they were cooked you could see through the paper thin shell. Man, those were tasty. I wish I knew the recipe for those. I remember they had meat and stuff in them, but it’s been so long I don’t remember. I’ve never had egg rolls that good anywhere else.
Don’t take this the wrong way, I know this may not be the most politically correct way of saying this but make friends with some Asian people. Asian people make wonderful friends because they seem to be raised with more sense of honor and manners or something. Their parents teach them really good values. And then you will have an Asian friend to trade family recipes with. Family recipes are 9/10 times better than the recipes you find elsewhere anyway. Like those egg rolls, I bet those were a family recipe.

“Japanese women don’t get old or fat” Anyone read it?
Just curious to see if anyone has read this book and what they thought of it? Have you tried it, and with what results?
Thanks!

I spent two years in Japan, what i can tell you is that they definatly do stay thin but age does not treat them well. Take that to the bank.

Richard asks…
Japanese diet and lifestlye?
Several years ago I read “Japanese Women Don’t get Old or Fat / Secrets of My Mother’s Tokyo Kitchen”. I tried the diet in the book and lost about 14 lbs over what I am now. Has anyone else tried this and has it worked for you? Have you kept the weight off? I try to do this as much as I can but my will-power caves in on occasion. I am still lighter than I was.

admin answers:
I tried it but the fish was too expensive
